The ability to bring your own alcohol, including wine and beer (with the quirky exception of Turkish beers), adds a rare and appreciated freedom that complements the food perfectly.
The Mangal Platter for two is a highlight, a generous assortment of chicken and lamb that remains juicy and tender with every bite—a sentiment echoed by many patrons who claim it as their favorite Turkish grill in London. Starters and mezes may spark mixed opinions, but the kebabs consistently command applause, especially the Adana kebab and signature köfte. The friendly portion sizes, reasonable prices, and free freshly baked bread make every meal here not just delicious but also immensely satisfying and accessible.

“ We got the Mangal Plater (for 2) and it was absolutely delicious! All of the meats- chicken and lamb were all juicy and tender. It’s definitely my favorite Turkish grill in London! ”
“ The kebab itself was delicious; however, compared to the area, the starters and meze were slightly below average. The price is affordable, and the quality of the kebabs is good. ”
“ They don't take reservations, only walk-ins. There's usually a queue out the door, but it moves quickly. I think the reason the queue moves so fast is that the service inside is very efficient. You can bring your own alcohol, as they don’t sell it on the premises. If you want to enjoy your meal comfortably, I do not recommend coming here; it's more of a 'eat quickly and leave' kind of place. As a Turkish person, I found the food to be quite good. The Adana kebab was excellent, and I definitely recommend it. ”
“ Scrumptious Turkish cuisine at very reasonable prices! BYO for beer and wine with the caveat that Turkish beer is forbidden. So leave your Istanbul Pale Ale at home! ”
“ I visited Mangal 1 yesterday and absolutely loved it. The food is consistently delicious, full of flavour, and very satisfying, especially considering how reasonably priced everything is. One of the best things is that you can bring your own wine and they don’t charge any corkage, which is incredibly rare and such a treat. The restaurant is always busy and there’s almost always a queue, so be prepared to wait, but it’s 100% worth it. The atmosphere is lively, the value for money is excellent, and it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommended. ”
